3<J>: Hey, you know, today, we are going to talk about getting 
client's opinion on something. Abe-san, do you speak differently 
when you want to get an opinion from your client?

4<Ab>: The answer is "no." Huh. I think I don't speak differently to 
my client.

5<J>: OK.

6<Ab>: To know who they are and articulate points simply and 
concisely...

7<J>: Uh-huh.

8<Ab>: I think uh..., you know, those are the same as talking 
internal guys.

9<J & A>: Ha.  Hmm...

10<Ab>: However, when getting client's opinion, I suppose we should 
pay attention to concerns between client.

11<J>: OK. Interesting.

12<J>: Now, when you do some of these business meetings, of course, 
you can do it at your office or their office, but very often you 
might have a lunch meeting. Are there any things that you keep in 
mind when you are having a lunch meeting with the client?

13<Ab>: I think, in Japan, we don't have a, you know, lunch meeting 
so much. I'm not saying we don't have it, but not so much.

14<J>: OK.

15<Ab>: However, if we have a lunch meeting with client, it is 
necessary to consider the venue.

16<J>: OK.

17<Ab>: In general, restaurant is public space, I mean, uh... the... 
open space...

18<J>: Right.

19<Ab>: So if the conversation between the client may have 
confidential information, we should use closed room.

20<J>: Right. I see.

21<Ab>: If it's casual one and just chat in order to maintain the 
relationship, open venue will work.

22<J>: Now, let's say that you have a foreign client and you are 
having lunch or maybe even dinner with them...

23<A>: Uh-huh.

24<J>: Do you pay attention to the type of restaurant or the type of 
food that you would take them to have?

25<Ab>: Absolutely, yes.

26<J>: OK.

27<Ab>: Because, you know, there are some things, you know, we have 
to consider, for instance, regulatory on religion, vegetarian, who 
can eat only vegetable...

28<J>: Right.

29<Ab>: ... and balance of quality and quantities.

30<J>: OK.

31<J>: Now, we'll check some other useful expressions in today's 
skit. The first one is, "As you know from my e-mail message, we are 
very interested to learn your assessment of the new attachment part.

32<J>: That's right.

33<Ab>: 相手が知っているかどうかわからないとき、"As you may or may 
not know... " というフレーズも使うことがあります。

34<J>: I see. All right, the next one is, "It serves its purpose 
well."

35<J>: Abe-san, do you use the word "serve" very often?

36<Ab>: I'm afraid I don't really use this phrase so much.

37<J>: Well, this is a good opportunity to learn this phrase and 
start using it.

38<Ab>: Definitely I'm very glad to learn this phrase.

元NOVAの講師たちで立ち上げた 「英語オアシス」で、おもしろい企画
を立てたそうです。スクールの生徒でなくても参加できますので、ぜひ

日時：　5月18日(日)　
時間：　14時　　（3-4時間程度かかります）
場所：　EigOasisに集合
費用：　2,000円　（生徒はポイントから1ポイント）

内容：　先生が面白いお題を用意します。グループ対抗、みんなで力を
合わせて、町に出て証拠写真をとろう！　

14時に集合後、ルール説明があり、グループごとに町に出ます。先生
が一人ずつ各グループにつきます。その後、英語オアシスに戻り、どん
な面白写真がとれたかをプレゼンテーションする予定です。

お題は、「メイドさんとオタク」「上野の西郷さんと変なおじさん」などにな 

る予定ですが、どんなお題が出るかはまだ不明。当日までの秘密、お
楽しみだそうですよ。

イベント後は懇親会もある予定だそうです。(費用別途実費)

いろいろ英会話スクールを訪ねた中でも、とても雰囲気が良く、講師も
