1) This installment of Tidbits in English brings an end to this
series, which began back in spring 2005. Out of all the farewell
songs, I chose this one performed by Natalie Cole. This is "Ev'ry
Time We Say Goodbye" on Tidbits in English.

2) Natalie Cole was born in Los Angels in 1950. She is the daughter
of jazz pianist and vocalist, Nat King Cole. Natalie Cole released
her debut album "Inseparable" in 1975. The following year, she was
awarded two Grammy Awards in the Best Female R&B Vocal Performance
and Best New Artist categories.

3) Apart from singing popular songs, she also performs and records
numerous jazz standard tunes made popular by her father, showing
just how versatile an artist she is.

Roadways continue to have residual snow and ice during the season,
so do take caution when driving.

6) How's it going? I'm Lisa Vogt, your host. I remember many years
ago when I first came to Japan and ordered orange juice. What came
was an orange drink and I felt let down.

7) Where I come from, "orange juice" means 100% fruit juice and
anything less must include the word "drink," "beverage" or
"cocktail."

8) I have since learned that in Japan, sweet drinks like soft drinks
and sodas can all sometimes fall under the juice category,
especially in restaurants.

9) Now I make it a rule to always ask if the juice on a menu is 100%
because in many cases, it's not.

10) Today's Word Watcher expression is "juice up." If something is
"juiced up," something is given more energy, liveliness or delight,
usually something is added or changed to make it better.
