1) play-acting
"Play-acting" has the meaning of being false, of being like an actor 
to give the wrong impression when you are not on the stage.

2) in good faith
"In good faith" means "honestly" or "sincerely" and it tends to be 
used even if things go badly, Maybe your actions cause some kind of 
trouble, but if you took your actions "in good faith," you can 
probably be forgiven for it fairly easily. This phrase is even used 
in legal situations. If you act "in good faith," you are probably 
not liable.

3) The opposite phrase "in bad faith" means that something was done 
with intentional deception or intentionally dishonestly.

4) develop one's voice
The phrase "develop one's voice" is often used in English to talk 
about the way writers write. It's... it refers to the writer's point 
of view, the writer's style and the way the writer expresses their 
point of view. But you could use it in other situations, like 
Takahashi does here, to talk about your own style, your personal way 
of communicating.

5) hang one's hat on
To "hang your hat on something" is an idiom meaning rely on.

6) You and me both!
"You and me both" is sort of a set phrase to say: "I agree very 
strongly with you,""We are both in the same situation,""We think the 
same thing."

7) project oneself
If you "project yourself," you show yourself as something. You 
persuade people of what you are like. Whenever I hear this phrase, I 
always think of an old movie projector showing some kind of view of 
yourself.
