1) Today's tune was written and performed by Eric Carmen, who was
inspired by a Russian classical musician. Here is part of "All by
Myself" on Tidbits in English.
2) Eric Carmen was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1949. At age three,
he became the youngest student in the history of the Cleveland
Institute of Music and aspired to become a composer at the age of
eleven.
3) In 1970, he formed the group the Raspberries, which came out with
their top five hit "Go All the Way" in 1972. He then started to
perform solo and came out with his solo debut album in 1975, which
included today's tune, that climbed all the way to the number two
position on the popular charts.
4) Coming up next is Lisa Vogt with Word Watcher.

5) Hello, everyone. It's Lisa Vogt here, once again.
There are many kinds of peas: green peas, black-eyed peas, split
peas, snow peas, sugar snap peas and more.
6) Peas can be eaten in many ways. My favorite is soup.
7) Today's Word Watcher phrase is "two peas in a pod." A "pod" is a
long outer cover that protects the seeds of plants like peas, beans
and lentils.
8) "Pods"are sometimes hard to chew and therefore often just the
insides are taken out and eaten.
9) "Two peas in a pod" means that two people are similar, or that
they get along so well that they seem to always be together. The
phrase is often used in a context that evokes a warm and loving
feeling.
