Three men are traveling in the Amazon, a German, an American, and a Pole,
and they get captured by some Amazons. The head of the tribe says to the
German, "What do you want on your back for your whipping?"

The German responds, "I will take oil!" So they put oil on his back, and
a large Amazon whips him 10 times. When he is finished the German has
these huge welts on his back, and he can hardly move.

The Amazons haul the German away, and say to the Pole, "What do you want
on your back?" "I will take nothing!" says the Pole, and he stands there
straight and takes his 10 lashings without a single flinch. "What will
you take on your back?" the Amazons ask the American. He responds, "I'll
take the Pole"

ドイツ人、アメリカ人、ポーランド人の3人が、アマゾンのいる地域を旅してい
て、アマゾンに捕まってしまった。部族の長がドイツ人に言った。「鞭打ちの前
に、背中に何かしてもらいたい？」

ドイツ人は答えた。「オイルを塗ってください！」そこでアマゾンは、ドイツ人
の背中にオイルを塗ってやった。そして大きなアマゾンが10回鞭で打った。終わ
ったときには、ドイツ人の背中には大きなみみずばれが出来ていて、ほとんど動
くことも出来なかった。

アマゾンは、ドイツ人を引きずって行った後、ポーランド人に言った。

「お前が背中に欲しいものは？」

「何もいらない！」と、ポーランド人は言って、すくっと立ち上がると、みじろ
ぎもせずに、10回の鞭打ちを受け入れた。

「お前は後ろにはどうしてもらいたい？」と、アマゾンがアメリカ人に聞くと、
アメリカ人が言うには、「ポーランド人を背中に置いてくれ！」

こういうときのポーランド人は頼りがいがありますね。昨日届いたジョーク集に
よると、以前はイタリア人をからかうジョークだったのが、ポーランド人のジョ
ークに変わったとか。時代とともに、あるいは地域によって、同じ内容のジョー
クが、固有名詞だけを変えて言われているようです。
