腫瘍摘出手術後の放射線治療が救命になる
本日発行のLancet載の研究記事に、乳がんの腫瘍摘出手術後に胸部へ放射線治療を施
すと、死亡リスクが減るとありました。
国際的な研究者チームが発見した内容は次の通り。摘出手術後の胸部内または付近の
がん再発の5年リスクは、放射線治療を受けると、26パーセントから7パーセントに下
がり、がんが原因の15年死亡リスクは36パーセントから31パーセントに下がりまし
た。

Radiotherapy after lumpectomy saves lives
Following a lumpectomy for breast cancer, radiotherapy to the breast
reduces the risk of eventually dying from the disease - according to
research published in today's (Friday's) The Lancet*.
An international team of researchers found that a woman's five-year risk of
the cancer returning in or near the breast after a lumpectomy dropped from
26 percent to seven percent if she also received radiotherapy, and the
15-year risk of dying from the disease dropped from 36 percent to 31
percent.

Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncologyの
リサーチナースを務めるチェリエ・ペレスが言っています。同氏はPlace … of
wellnessにおいてがん患者にアロマセラピーを指導しています。
Aromatherapy Soothes Cancer Patients
The ancient art of aromatherapy can be highly effective in helping manage
the undesirable effects of cancer treatment - including restlessness,
anxiety and stress, experts say.
It has been shown to have tremendous soothing and stress-relieving
capabilities, says Cherie Perez, a supervising research nurse in M. D.
Anderson’s Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology who teaches
aromatherapy to cancer patients through classes at the Place … of
wellness.
